Ah, to be young and popular

Usually we try not to link to stories on the New York Times front page. It seems like a good bet you've already seen them, or will do so after you get done reading the chess column.

But I can't resist with this story, about a 22-year-old college kid whose blog on the TV news industry is so authoritative that he's met with Brian Williams, and has the cell numbers of CNN's top newsies.

It's crazy to think that a media property that didn't exist two years ago could have this much sway -- and also that traditional media's coverage of TV was drab enough that a part-time college kid could steal the show.
