Mike Maguire reports from the toilet bowl of hope that is Soldier Field

Olsen in, Briggs in Limbo

The Bears locked up their first round draft pick on Tuesday by signing TE Greg Olsen to a five year, incentive laden contract.  Olsen’s signing was not only the first by a top-tier player from the 2007 draft, but it also proved that it is possible to strike a deal with agent Drew Rosenhaus.

With Rosenhaus setting up shop at Halas Hall to hammer out the Olsen deal, the Bears rekindled talks with him this week on the Lance Briggs situation.  Though there is no distinct progress to report as of yet, the fact that both sides are talking once again is an encouraging sign.

With only short yardage to-go until training camp, many of the pieces are falling into place for the Bears NFC title defense.  Lance Briggs may still be in limbo, but Greg Olsen has officially been welcomed into the Bears den… and the offense will be a stronger unit with him in the fold.
